BLR Tutoring ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in compliance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Who we are

BLR Tutoring is a sole proprietorship operated by Takalani Mugeri, providing group tutoring in Mathematics and Physical Sciences for Grades 10–12. Our contact details are:

2. What information we collect

We collect only the information you give us directly:

• Enrolment: When you message us on WhatsApp to enrol, you may share your name, your child's name, grade, subject choice, email address, and phone number — solely to provide the tutoring service.
• Testimonial submissions: If you submit a review through our website, you provide your first name, grade, subject studied, star rating, and a short message. This is stored in your browser's local storage only — we do not receive it on a server. (See §5 for limitations.)
• Payment references: When you pay by EFT, your bank may share your name and payment reference with us via our bank statement. We do not store full bank account numbers.

We do not use cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party advertising on our website.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information only for:

• Providing the tutoring services you enrolled for (scheduling, materials, homework help)
• Communicating with you about your child's classes (via WhatsApp or email)
• Sending payment confirmations and receipts
• Responding to your enquiries

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. How we protect your information

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to secure your information:

• WhatsApp conversations are end-to-end encrypted.
• Enrolment records are stored on a password-protected device accessible only to the lead tutor.
• We do not maintain a public-facing database of learner information.
• Our website has no backend server — no personal data submitted through the site is stored by us.

5. Testimonial submissions — important caveat

Testimonials submitted through our website are stored in your browser's localStorage and are visible only to you on your device. They are not transmitted to us or to other visitors. This is a v1 limitation. When we add a backend review system (planned v1.5), reviews you submit will be sent to us for approval before being published. At that point, we will ask for your explicit consent before publishing your name and review publicly.

6. Your rights under POPIA

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Ask us what personal information we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your information
• Object to processing of your information
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa)

To exercise any of these rights, WhatsApp or email us using the contact details above. We will respond within 30 days as required by POPIA.

7. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as our services evolve. The latest version will always be available at blrtutoring.co.za/privacy.html. Significant changes will be communicated to enrolled families via WhatsApp.
