BLR Tutoring ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in compliance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Who we are

BLR Tutoring is a sole proprietorship operated by Takalani Mugeri, providing group tutoring in Mathematics and Physical Sciences for Grades 10–12. Our contact details are:

2. What information we collect

We collect only the information you give us directly:

• Enrolment: When you message us on WhatsApp to enrol, you may share your name, your child's name, grade, subject choice, email address, and phone number — solely to provide the tutoring service.
• Testimonial submissions: If you submit a review through our website, you provide your name, grade, subject studied, star rating, and a short message. It is sent to our password-protected business database, where it waits in a review queue until Takalani approves it for publication. (See §5.)
• Payment references: When you pay by EFT, your bank may share your name and payment reference with us via our bank statement. We do not store full bank account numbers.

We do not use cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party advertising on our website.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information only for:

• Providing the tutoring services you enrolled for (scheduling, materials, homework help)
• Communicating with you about your child's classes (via WhatsApp or email)
• Sending payment confirmations and receipts
• Responding to your enquiries
• Reviewing and — with your submission as consent — publishing your testimonial on our website

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. How we protect your information

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to secure your information:

• WhatsApp conversations are end-to-end encrypted.
• Our business records (enrolments, payments, attendance, communications) live in a password-protected database with row-level security. Only Takalani — the single account holder — can read or change them.
• The database is hosted in Frankfurt, Germany (EU) with Supabase. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and the EU is recognised under POPIA as providing adequate protection.
• The public website is limited to reading approved testimonials and submitting new ones into the review queue — it cannot see any learner data.

5. Testimonial submissions — approval and consent

When you submit a review through our website, it is sent to our business database and placed in a pending queue. By submitting, you consent to your name, grade, subject and review being published on our website once approved. Takalani reviews every submission and approves only genuine reviews from real families. You can ask us to take your review down at any time — message us and we will remove it.

We never publish contact details alongside a review, and we do not edit review text without your permission.

6. Your rights under POPIA

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Ask us what personal information we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your information
• Object to processing of your information
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa)

To exercise any of these rights, WhatsApp or email us using the contact details above. We will respond within 30 days as required by POPIA.

7. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as our services evolve. The latest version will always be available at blrtutoring.co.za/privacy.html. Significant changes will be communicated to enrolled families via WhatsApp.
